The club

For Fall 2016, I'm leading a team of developers and working with Re-Plate, a Berkeley NPO that aims to reduce food waste and hunger in the community. Re-Plate collects food donations from other businesses and hires drivers to transport the extra food to other nonprofits and homeless shelters.

Even though Re-Plate is a relatively new nonprofit, they're growing incredibly quickly and have recovered over 100,000 pounds of food. We're developing a dashboard for businesses to request donation pickups, with the following features:

  • Marketing homepage and information pages
  • Business signup, multiple office location management
  • Requesting pickups for each location, API posts to Onfleet (task management app)
  • Donation history, payment options

From Fall 2015 to Spring 2016, I worked with Bizworld, an international NPO headquartered in San Francisco. Bizworld aims to engage children with entrepreneurship education to inspire future leaders. They provide teachers with curriculum and material for hands-on classroom activities.

With thousands of teachers and students across the world, the Bizworld administrators have difficulty organizing and managing classrooms. I worked as a developer in a team of 5 to help develop an online portal. Features include:

  • Classroom and student creation
  • Customizable assessments for students to take online
  • Viewing all classes and filter options
  • Teacher feedback
